Tony started painting in 1983 and after completing a four year apprenticeship he travelled to London where he gained invaluable experience hanging Flock Wallpaper. On his return from London Tony was employed by the Office of Public Works (O.P.W.) where he worked on many prestigious projects.
Tony spent almost ten years employed at the O.P.W. developing his skills and working alongside many highly experienced, top quality decorators. Tony excelled in this environment and went on to be personally chosen to hang hand-printed wallpaper in Dublin Castle and Aras An Uachataraín.
Tony’s talented ability for special effects was also recognized and he quickly became directly involved in graining the
doors in the entrance lobby of Leinster House, his eye for colour led to him becoming directly involved in projects where sponging techniques where used to imitate sandstone, block walls in various buildings including Kilkenny Castle and Rathfarnham Castle.
In 2000, Tony Fogarty Painting and Decorating was founded. They are now the most highly regarded wall paper hanging decorators in the country, providing top quality service to an ever expanding list of both domestic and commercial clients.
On his return to Dublin Tony’s skill for specialist techniques was quickly recognised and led to being personally requested to hang paper in such prestigious venues as Dublin Castle, Rathfarnham Castle and Kilkenny Castle. He was also asked to hang the wallpaper in the Presidents Study at Áras an Uachtaráin, which still hangs there today.

Tony was honoured to be asked to hang the world famous wallpaper Cow by Andy Warhol at The Andy Warhol Exhibition at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA).
Tony was personally chosen to hang hand printed wall paper at Kilkenny Castle.
